About the role
- 2-year paid mentorship program for Underwriting Associate in Toronto
- Report to the Underwriting Account Service Supervisor and support Underwriters
- Review, evaluate and summarize risk exposures, controls, loss history, and financial condition to aid underwriting decisions
- Follow Underwriters' instructions on policy rating, subjective pricing, policy construction, coverages & exclusions, and mandatory forms to accurately quote and issue policies
- Provide account servicing support for new business, renewals, and endorsements for basic to moderately complex business and products
- Support broker/agent/distributor/customer interactions and respond to written and verbal inquiries under close supervision
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Upon completion, continue in a paid, benefit-eligible full-time position and gain significant industry experience
Requirements
- Knowledge of data collection and analysis
- Microsoft Office experience
- A genuine interest in launching a career in the insurance industry—no prior experience required
- Strong analytical thinking and a curious mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a structured training environment
