About the role
- Design and develop state-of-the-art satellite systems for space-based applications for commercial, civil and/or national security programs
- Apply common products, processes, and tools across subsystems in pursuit of programmatic objectives
- Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements
- Integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces
- Perform analyses to optimize the total system of systems and/or system architecture
- Identify unassigned scope and ensure proper distribution
- Participate in identification and resolution of cross-functional technical issues
- Lead or participate in system and segment level trades including technical, cost, schedule aspects
- Lead space segment level duties such as RIO Board or ERB (possible)
- Ensure contractual compliance by integrating SOW and technical specifications into IPT workflow
- Create requirements and model-based system engineering infrastructures (e.g., DOORS, CAMEO) and lead efforts to allocate and derive performance and functional requirements
- Forecast and track requirements compliance activities and verify compliance for reporting obligations
- Generate responses to Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) (may participate)
- Plan and execute space system engineering events (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, development and production gates)
- Represent space system engineering in events led by other IPTs (e.g., Manufacturing and Test Readiness Reviews)
- Support program roles that evolve with program life cycle, including AI&T IPT as test engineer or oversight role to track and resolve NCRs
- Support roles at Launch Site or in Mission Operations
- Expected to work onsite at listed location
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- Experienced, level 3: Typically 5 or more years' related work experience or equivalent
- Lead, level 4: Typically 9 or more years' related work experience or equivalent
- Senior, level 5: Typically 14 or more years' related work experience or equivalent
- Experience in satellite system design, development or test (preferred)
- Work with customers, program office, and interdisciplinary teams (preferred)
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) (preferred)
- Must be U.S. citizen and require active U.S. Top Secret or SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
- Export control compliance: must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15
