About the role
- Develops, integrates, and documents structural requirements to validate Airframe Stress design and Finite Element Modelling and Load case assessment
- Verifies structural integrity by defining requirements for development of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop the airframe structural environment, characteristics, and performance of the product
- Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment
- Guides product design and verify structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance
- Understands industry best practices in airframe primary structure and load paths
- Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
- Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied
- Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
- Works under general direction
- Works with customers and regulatory agencies to define and maintain certification processes that will ensure requirements are met
- Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the analysis and repair efforts
- Oversees compliance with methodology and processes for stress analysis and finite element modelling
- Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 3 or more years of experience in aircraft fleet support engineering or related product sustainment engineering, sizing, designing and developing complex structural repairs
- 5 or more years leading projects
- Experience with Finite Element Models (FEM)
- Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
- Must meet export control compliance requirements; must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)

- Preferred: 5 or more years’ experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures
- Preferred: Experience with Hypermesh, Abaqus CAE, and/or Nastran
- Preferred: Experience validating or verifying finite element model results
- Preferred: Active U.S. Secret Clearance
- Preferred: Experience with Aircraft Primary Structures on military high performance aircraft - Commercial and/or Military applications (737, 747, 757, 767 & 777)
- Preferred: Experience in aircraft fleet support engineering or related product sustainment engineering, sizing, designing and developing structural repairs
