About the role

  • Report directly to the Operations Manager and work within the Service group primarily located in Saskatoon.
  • Sell projects to existing clients and grow long-term client relationships with Black & McDonald.
  • Work on a full range of mechanical service project opportunities including HVAC, Refrigeration, Building Automation Controls, Gas/Propane and Oil in commercial, retail, manufacturing and institutional markets.
  • Understand client requirements and develop solutions to meet their needs.
  • Prepare, present and sell personalized written proposals, with energy analysis and cost justifications for existing and new clients.
  • Qualify opportunities, negotiate client needs and gain commitment.
  • Prepare estimates for various service offerings; design and develop custom solutions adapted to customers’ needs.
  • Complete concise reporting of sales backlog, sales plan activity and monthly results (Salesforce).
  • Support the service group and maintain strong communications with technicians in the field.
  • Arrange purchasing of materials and assist in scheduling, planning and implementation of secured projects.
  • Consult and communicate with business partners: suppliers, sub-contractors, utilities and inspectors.
  • Act in an entrepreneurial capacity to proactively sell and negotiate with senior decision makers.
  • Pursue continued personal and professional development; participate in training and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma from a Mechanical program or Technology program would be an asset.
  • Years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in the construction mechanical and/or HVAC industry may substitute for education requirements.
  • Experience in Commercial and Industrial mechanical systems, and/or in a technical occupation related to HVAC, Electrical or Plumbing would be considered an asset.
  • Previous sales and customer service experience would be considered an asset.
  • Estimating experience would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience within the service business would be considered an asset.
  • Previous project management experience would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of mechanical HVAC, controls, piping and related equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience with energy and sustainability considered an asset.
  • High level of professionalism, ethics, confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
  • Criminal Background Check and Professional Reference Check required as part of employment screening.
