Senior Manager, Learning and Development

Accountant

• Perform timely and accurate month-end journal entries and bank account reconciliations as part of the assigned monthly tasks.
• Prepare and analyze assigned balance sheet account reconciliations, researching the appropriateness of balances and ensuring accuracy of accounts; Maintain organized and updated supporting spreadsheets for monthly reconciliations and other accounting tasks.
• For the various supplemental systems used, prepare accurate month-end GL imports for assigned revenue streams.
• These may include online store, point of sale, lodging and clinic revenue.
• Must be proactive in understanding system data, reporting and general ledger impacts.
• Understand the financial data flow from our CRM into the general ledger; understand how to research transactions and communicate corrections when needed.
• Identify, research, and resolve accounting discrepancies to ensure accurate reporting in the general ledger; communicate with internal staff as necessary to assist in research and resolution.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual sales tax filings for approximately 30 states.
• Assist with preparation of schedules for annual IRS Form 990 and 990-T filing including fulfilling and responding to requests from tax/audit firm.
• Collaborate with Accounting Team, Business Operations Team, and members of other departments on issues as they arise; respond to accounting inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Complete other ad hoc projects as needed.

Senior Staff Accountant

Data Scientist

• Use shelter and community data to aide in lifesaving by identifying deficits and opportunities
• Create timely and meaningful reports, analyses, forecasts, etc. to fulfill organizational planning, strategy, and measurement needs
• Work with leadership to identify gaps in data collection, inconsistencies, and imperfections across various internal programs and propose solutions to best measure and improve lifesaving efficiency
• Collaborate with the data engineering team to help build our data ecosystem necessary for the innovations that will reach our lifesaving goals
• Partner with data visualization specialists to make relevant data and insights accessible via dashboards and other visualization modalities

Account Manager

• Lead marketing’s Center of Excellence (COE) model, ensuring it operates effectively across teams by aligning stakeholders around shared priorities, improving visibility into what’s happening and what’s next, and driving coordinated marketing efforts that unify activities and maximize impact.
• Develop and implement a cohesive, integrated marketing and brand strategy that strengthens and protects brand consistency while driving measurable growth in share of voice, issue awareness, brand equity, and lifesaving actions.
• Expand Best Friends’ reach and influence nationally and in key markets through targeted, culturally relevant strategies aligned to priority audience segments.
• Design and lead high-impact, integrated campaigns that maximize impact through partnerships, PSAs, earned media, grassroots activation and creative collaboration—ensuring every tactic works harder through coordination, leverage, and smart use of limited paid media.
• Inspire an environment of testing and learning, performance, and data orientation through consistent project leadership in collaboration with channel owners, internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Utilize data, consumer insights and trends to inform decisions around target audiences, message development and key strategies; partner with the Insights & Analytics team and outside firms to translate market research into strategic marketing and brand campaigns that change public opinion and behavior on critical issues, support development priorities, and help to make Best Friends a household name.
• Monitor the marketing and brand landscape to understand trends, audience needs, and emerging opportunities.

• Direct an integrated Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned (PESO) media strategy with a strong digital-first mindset—leveraging social, search, web, email, influencers, partnerships, and data-driven optimization—to maximize reach, relevance, and impact with limited paid investment, in close coordination with PR, grassroots, creative and content teams.
• Work to find new ways for increasing influence and visibility of the organization and to realign resources to pursue new opportunities as appropriate.

• Maintain and regularly update all constituent data in internal databases by collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data related to events, campaigns, and partnerships.
• Produce clear, compelling, and accurate reports and project plans that communicate impact, ROI, and KPI learnings to internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Support continuous improvement of surfacing insights and recommendations based on data and results.
• Support the end-to end execution of celebrity and entertainment initiatives by managing workflows, timelines, approvals, and documentation and ensuring that all events comply with relevant regulations and legal requirements.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment and smooth execution and garner input from all channels.
• Serve as an operational liaison, ensuring clear communication and follow-through across departments.
• Draft marketing plans and documents with basic info for celeb team and relevant channels and serve as marketing liaison.
• Monitor social accounts and capture specific celeb posts for during/after internal events.
• Prepare background materials, briefings, and summaries to support decision making and relationship management efforts.
• Submit necessary creative requests for celebrity and entertainment activations, making sure that branding, copy, and messaging is consistent.
• Provide administrative and logistical support as needed, including booking travel for celebrity appearances, coordinating swag for outreach, creating personal touch moments with key supporters and supporting event logistics.

Strategist, Celebrity and Entertainment Partnerships

Manager

• Provide national leadership and strategic direction for the Best Friends Animal Society's emergency response initiatives and internal preparedness.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive emergency response strategy that supports animals and communities affected by disasters across the country.
• Serve as an operational leader, directing large-scale field response efforts, coordinating cross-functional teams during activations, and building collaborative partnerships with emergency management agencies, shelters, and community organizations.
• Drive readiness, safety, and training efforts across all Best Friends locations where animals are being housed, ensuring clear Emergency Action plans, consistent staff training, and an integrated approach to internal response needs.
• Lead the creation, implementation, and ongoing improvement of emergency action plans (EAPs) and any correlating SOPs across all animal housing locations.
• Oversee organization-wide readiness development through structured training with both staff and managers.
• Work cross-functionally with leadership in different areas, facilities, safety, risk, animal care, etc.
• Serve as the internal central command lead during incidents affecting any organizational location.
• Develop and execute the Best Friends Animal Society’s national emergency response strategy, ensuring operations are scalable, efficient, and adaptable across event types.
• Build and maintain robust emergency management partnerships at the local, regional, and federal levels.
• Represent the organization during EOC activations, unified command structures, and disaster planning coalitions.
• Lead national emergency and disaster activations on behalf of Best Friends from preparation through recovery.
• Manage and coach emergency services team members, volunteers, and staff temporarily reassigned during response operations.
