Full-stack Engineer

• You will build and own core features that are central to our product, including Identity, Permissions, Notifications, and platform-wide Configurability.

Software Engineer, Full Stack – Admin & Identity Platform

Infrastructure Engineer

• Build, maintain, and improve foundational infrastructure and platform services used by product engineering teams.
• Partner directly with product teams to define requirements, design paved paths, and reduce friction in deploying and operating services.
• Contribute to our Kubernetes-based platform (e.g., Kubernetes, Istio), including service configuration, traffic management, and platform tooling.
• Develop and operate AWS infrastructure and automation (e.g., EKS/ECS, RDS, VPC, EC2, S3), with an emphasis on scalability, cost-awareness, and resiliency.
• Strengthen observability and operational readiness through metrics, logs, tracing, dashboards, and alerting (e.g., Datadog, Sentry, FireHydrant, Sentry, or similar).
• Participate in an on-call rotation, respond to incidents, and drive follow-up improvements to prevent recurrence (automation, hardening, better tooling).
• Write clear technical documentation and contribute to design discussions and reviews; improve systems incrementally with a focus on maintainability and reliability.
• Help ensure infrastructure meets expectations for operating in a regulated environment (e.g., change management, access controls, auditability) when applicable.

Software Engineer, Backend – Infrastructure Engineering

Sales Development Rep

• Create a fantastic first impression with prospects and customers while building pipeline for Account Executives
• Follow up and qualify inbound requests and MQLs, via the telephone and email, for scientific fit
• Organize, categorize, and prioritize sales leads in Salesforce and measure lead conversion and performance against quota
• Leverage prospecting tools to research companies and identify key decision makers at new accounts
• Develop customized pitches for different target accounts and personas
• Work with Account Executives to drive outbound prospecting activities, including cold calling, emailing, and communicating our value proposition to decision makers
• Work with the field marketing and sales teams to drive attendance at Benchling field events such as executive dinners and happy hours

Sales Development Representative

• Build next generation Data Platform with scalable data ingress/egress for internal and external customers
• Define and design data transformations and pipelines for cross-functional datasets, while ensuring that data integrity and data privacy are first-class concerns regarded proactively, instead of reactively
• Define the right Service Level Objectives for the batch & streaming pipelines, and optimize their performance
• Designing and creating CI/CD pipelines for platform provisioning, full lifecycle management. Building the platform control panel to operate the fleet of systems efficiently
• Work closely with the team across Application and Platform to establish best practices around usage of our data platform

Software Engineer, Big Data Infrastructure

• Drive the design and development of innovative products and systems that advance Benchling's product and business goals, serving as a technical expert within the team
• Independently architect and implement solutions to complex, open-ended problems in areas such as comprehensive audit coverage, scalable export systems, document lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance workflows
• Lead large, sophisticated initiatives spanning multiple quarters, breaking down ambiguous requirements into concrete technical plans and iterative delivery milestones

Backend Engineer

• Design, build, and operate high-throughput usage metering pipelines.
• Develop and evolve Billing Platform primitives including plans, pricing, entitlements, discounts/credits, invoicing.

Product Manager

• Define and drive the product vision and strategy for Benchling's automation and data orchestration platform, including Pipelines (backend platform) and Automation Designer (customer UX) capabilities.
• Enable automation that orchestrates end-to-end scientific workflows—from instrument and automated workcell data capture through analysis, Benchling actions, and cross-system integrations.
• Work closely with engineering teams to prioritize, develop, and launch product features that align with the company's goals and user needs.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure the Automation Designer provides a flexible, intuitive interface that enables customers to create complex, multi-step data automation workflows through a visual, low-code/no-code environment.

Consultant

• Effectively partner with account executives, SC peers, and leadership to create account and deal strategies that lead to selection, planning out customer engagements that lead to compelling solutions.
• Manage organized discoveries to uncover customer needs and requirements that relate to decision criteria and key business issues.
• Craft solutions based on Benchling capabilities, industry best practices and standard R&D functions, with data models and processes that map to the customer or prospects' science and that fit into their current technology landscape.
• Present and demonstrate the solution in a persuasive way based on key messages, decision criteria, and key business issues. Manage customer questions and objections and resolve concerns. Ensure that the solution is presented competitively, with awareness of alternatives including build in house.

• Design and implement backend models and API endpoints for complex scientific workflows.
• Design and implement rich frontend components and architecture. We build and operate one of the largest, richest React applications out there and power complex scientific analyses.
• Design and build a platform framework or infrastructure tool for other Benchling engineers to use.

Software Engineer, New Grad

• Drive complex, end-to-end projects: Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of high-impact features and systems across the stack (React + Python). Translate product requirements into scalable architecture and thoughtful user experiences, while proactively identifying risks and tradeoffs.
