About the role

  • Manage a territory and expand sales of BD Interventional Surgery products (Biosurgery, Surgiphor, Hemostat, Sealant portfolios)
  • Present, educate, and provide in-services on product use to surgeons, OR staff, and hospital personnel
  • Provide on-site technical support during procedures to ensure proper product use
  • Train and educate physicians and hospital staff on product usage and ensure effective utilization
  • Maintain product, channel, and distribution knowledge and stay current on new products
  • Attain territory sales and profitability goals and increase sales of current accounts
  • Develop new prospects and establish new customers; identify, target and close new business
  • Inform customers of product status (back orders, pricing, company policy changes) and resolve complaints promptly
  • Maintain accurate account records, utilize sales funnel, and devise route plans guided by customer habits and competitive circumstances
  • Report market changes, competitive activity, and customer issues to District Manager and Franchise
  • Attend customer meetings and trade shows and provide post-convention feedback
  • Manage expense budget and maintain presentable equipment and promotional materials

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline required
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant sales experienced is required
  • Travel varies by territory– ability to travel at least 50% including overnight
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license with 3 years of consecutive driving history and meet BD’s auto safety standards
  • Must poses and maintain a criminal background satisfactory to BD (may be monitored annually)
  • Ability to work in an operating room environment is required
  • Operating room sales/medical device experience is preferred
  • Documentation of successful sales performance (preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, communication, organizational and planning skills
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external customers (KOLs, Surgeons, Physicians, Nurses, Sourcing, Sales Training, Marketing, National Accounts, Customer Service, Contracts, Field Sales Team)
  • Thorough understanding of the needs/analysis approach to sales
  • Must live within assigned region
  • Ability to provide on-site technical support during procedures and conduct in-service training
  • Willingness to adhere to company workplace policies (e.g., in-office expectations, vaccination/testing requirements where applicable)
