About the role
- Define and execute the long‑term strategy for the Product Engineering Lab network.
- Oversees MDS R&D product engineering labs in Brea, Salt Lake City, Franklin Lakes, and TCI.
- Establish clear goals, performance indicators, and resource plans to deliver high‑quality data and technical insights.
- Oversee all Product Engineering Lab locations, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and predictable execution of testing and engineering workflows.
- Implement continuous improvement and Lean principles to enhance throughput, efficiency, and quality.
- Ensure robust data integrity, adherence to design control, and alignment with quality system expectations.
- Partner across all MDS platforms and functions such as R&D, Quality, and Program Management.
- Attract, develop, and empower top talent.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in Research and Development
- 3+ years of R&D Lab management experience, with a strong track record in operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Proven success in building a strong lab team and leading initiatives to drive lab efficiencies in medical device industry.
- Deep knowledge of medical device regulations (FDA, ISO 13485), design control.
- Expertise in product development is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated ability to set strategic vision, manage large technical organizations, and drive operational efficiencies.
- Strong communication, team member engagement, and organizational change skills.
