About the role

  • Provide operational leadership and oversight of the BCER’s programs for responsible subsurface resource development in the energy sector.
  • Ensure public safety, environmental protection, and conservation of hydrocarbon resources.
  • Support strategic direction and deliver results across three core business areas: Energy Geoscience, Drilling & Production Engineering, and Reservoir Engineering.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a diverse team of technical professionals.
  • Provide advice to and collaborate with BCER’s Leadership team.

Requirements

  • A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Engineering, Geoscience, Natural Resource Management or a related field, and seven to ten years of progressive management roles within the oil and gas industry and/or the natural resource sector of government.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Preference may be given to those registered as members in good standing with the Engineers & Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
  • Demonstrated experience establishing strategic priorities and leading workforce planning, resource allocation, and budget management, including exercising financial authority over complex technical programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior management capacity dealing with politically sensitive, high-profile, and/or provincially significant issues.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and implementing evolving programs, projects, and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the administration and/or regulation of subsurface resource development.
