About the role
- Administer registered plans and process requests such as deregistrations, de-registrations, de-allocations, specialized withdrawals, etc.
- Ensure that enrollments, contributions and withdrawals meet the regulatory deadlines specific to RESP (REEE), RRSP (REER), TFSA (CELI), RRIF (FRR), FHSA (CELIAPP), etc.
- Review, process and settle all registered plan requests within the timeframes prescribed by service level agreements and escalate any issues that require management review and intervention.
- Conduct registered plan audits with OCRI within internal and regulatory deadlines.
- Work closely with the tax, estates, transfers, new accounts and account management teams to implement any necessary registered plan updates.
- Actively participate in registered plan committee meetings to ensure fiduciary and regulatory changes are applied in procedures and manuals and kept up to date.
- Monitor regulatory developments at the CRA, Revenu Québec, Employment and Social Development Canada and trustee regulations by consulting legislation, press releases and relevant industry bulletins.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in registered plans or operations
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to proactively resolve problems and strong analytical skills
- Exceptional client-service orientation
- Strong focus on detail and accuracy, with an emphasis on quality assurance
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
