About the role

  • Be an integral part of the continued growth of AVEVA’s commercial deal pursuits as well as general legal issues that arise in the EMEA region (with a primary focus on Southern Europe, and particularly Italy) by providing pragmatic legal advice
  • Advise, review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts with public sector and private customers, partners and suppliers as necessary, including but not limited to software services agreements, maintenance agreements, consultancy agreements, global contractual framework agreements, procurement, subcontractor, and strategic alliance agreements, as well as other in-bound commercial agreements, always operating within an agreed approval matrix and legal policy framework
  • Establish good working relationships throughout the Legal department and across all relevant business units
  • Maintain current knowledge of, and support compliance with, applicable laws and regulations as well as group legal policies
  • Assist in reviewing and assessing current processes, practices and structures for efficient legal compliance, and lead or support projects and initiatives to improve and/or streamline legal processes and documentation
  • Manage and coordinate with internal subject matter experts, external counsel, and relevant authorities as needed
  • Prepare contract summaries, legal trackers, and dispute resolution trackers to aid in the management decision-making process
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and updating legal systems and records
  • Assist several sub-functions within the Legal department on corporate, regulatory and other legal matters at a local level, such as M&A activities, corporate housekeeping, employment, facilities, trade compliance and litigation related matters, as required
  • Lead or assist with various projects and tasks as may be assigned

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Law with excellent academic records
  • Qualifying - 5 yrs PQE in a reputable commercial law firm or in-house environment, preferably with relevant experience in software licensing and/or supporting Sales team
  • Pays strong attention to detail and possesses excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, motivated self-starter
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • Understanding of general contractual standards, contract risks and the potential legal and financial consequences associated with them
  • Warm and personable with excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse, cross functional teams
  • Worked proactively and closely with business stakeholders to identify and analyse critical commercial and legal issues
