About the role
- Provide white-glove remote technical support and triage for customer controls systems (PLC and/or PC based)
- Remotely troubleshoot PLCs, PCs, servo drives, robots, vision systems and other specialized controllers
- Connect remotely to customer controls systems and guide customers through diagnostics and fixes
- Document call reason, troubleshooting steps, PCOF, resolution or disposition, and complete detailed Call Report
- Liaise with customers, ATS Remote Ops Manager, and ATS Controls and Vision SMEs to resolve technical issues
- Assist in onboarding new customers and assets into the Connected Care Hub (CCH)
- Review new technologies and assets onboarded by the CCH team and support knowledge base development
- Work within Oracle and Salesforce to gather customer background information and enter opportunities
- Recommend tools/software/equipment and advise on repair vs replace decisions
- Be available for on-call rotation as needed and ensure follow-up communication and case closure
- Adhere to OHSA/CCOHS, NFPA, ATS Quality Procedures, and company ethical standards
Requirements
- Associates or Bachelor of Science in related field (BSEE, BSEET, BS Industrial Automation, Computer Science, Mathematics, Mechatronics, etc.)
- 10+ years' experience in automation industry
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, & Excel
- Ability to provide support and troubleshooting remotely for customers
- Basic/intermediate programming in Visual Basic, C or C++ is a plus
- Working understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
- Proficient in reading mechanical and electrical schematics and other machine drawings while referencing the SPL and BOM
- Ability to read, speak, write, & understand English in a professional manner
- Strong customer service presence with ability to de-escalate situations
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Experience working with customers to resolve operational and quality issues
- Willingness and ability to travel 15%
- Must be eligible and able to travel domestically & internationally within 30 days from hire date
- Legally eligible to operate a vehicle
- Experience diagnosing/troubleshooting PLCs, PCs, servo drives, robots, vision systems and specialized controllers
- Familiarity with Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, PanelView+, FactoryTalk View (FT View)
- Experience with 6 Axis and SCARA robots; familiarity with Fanuc, ABB, Nachi, KUKA, Motoman
- Familiarity with KUKA SafeOperation, Fanuc DCS, ABB SafeMove
- Ability to teach/guide customers on teach pendant use and robot frames/work objects
- Experience determining machine vision operational status and making vision adjustments
- Experience with Oracle and Salesforce platforms (for documentation and case management)
