Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all aspects of aircraft Electrical Wiring and Interconnection Systems (EWIS) design development
Serve as technical authority for EWIS design: system wiring diagrams, harness assembly, harness installation requirements
EWIS component qualification and selection
Author test plans and procedures
Author and approve design guidance documentation
Perform design reviews ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with system, program and regulatory requirements
Assist in the development of new processes and process improvement initiatives
Provide technical guidance and mentor team members
Communicate EWIS system requirements to other engineering disciplines
Lead the team in development of novel solutions to complex design and compliance issues
Enforce adherence to established requirements, processes, and procedures
Guide establishment of the EWIS product structure
Participate in various working groups, trade studies, and review boards
Act as the primary EWIS stakeholder during design reviews for other subsystems and IPTs
Requirements
Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
Expert in the requirements of 14 CFR, Part 25, Subpart H
Broad experience in the development, design, test, and certification of original Type Designs (TC) and Supplemental Type Designs (STC)
Able to effectively and clearly communicate complex regulatory requirements and solutions
In depth knowledge of environmental electromagnetic effects and electromagnetic compatibility principles, as well as methods of protection and mitigation of those effects on EWIS
Extensive experience with system safety principles and hazard mitigation methods
Highly skilled at analyzing and interpreting federal rules and regulations and how those principles apply to design
Ability to understand complex program integration issues and how they may impact design workflow and schedule
