About the role
- Partner with Product and Design to refine growth opportunities into well-scoped experiments and features, then lead the engineering team in executing and learning from them
- Lead by example by contributing to critical PRs, prototypes, A/B tests, and production debugging; uphold high design and review standards
- Ensure experiments and features are instrumented for measurement and partner with Analytics to interpret results and apply learnings
- Dig into product and customer data to validate ideas, understand user behavior, and identify new opportunities
- Manage the team’s roadmap, delegate ownership with clear decision boundaries, and hold the team accountable for quality, timelines, and outcomes; provide transparent updates to partners
- Coach, hire, and retain a high-performing, diverse engineering team; run weekly 1:1s, provide actionable feedback, and foster career growth
- Partner with other engineering teams, peer EMs, and cross-functional leaders to deliver cross-team initiatives, evolve practices, raise the hiring bar, and share best practices
- Optimize processes and remove impediments to sustain velocity, quality, and reliability
- Support partner teams in triaging and resolving production issues, including participating in on-call rotation
Requirements
- Demonstrated success delivering growth-focused product features and experiments that drove measurable impact on acquisition, activation, retention, or expansion
- Ability to work with data at multiple levels; partner with Analytics to frame hypotheses and interpret results; dig in directly with SQL or logs when needed
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js in the context of delivering scalable, user-facing applications
- 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-functioning teams with experience coaching across levels, giving direct and empathetic feedback, addressing underperformance, and supporting growth through fair, evidence-based promotions
- Strong computer science fundamentals applied at scale
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience
- Excellent communication skills, translating complex technical concepts to cross-functional partners and leading difficult conversations constructively
- Enthusiasm for experimentation, data-informed decision making, and building products that drive meaningful customer and business outcomes
- Comfortable contributing to critical PRs, prototypes, A/B tests, and production debugging; uphold high design and review standards
- Experience participating in on-call rotation and supporting production incident triage
- Must physically reside and work within the United States throughout employment
