About the role
- Lead end-to-end lifecycle management of engineering and product-based IP portfolio
- Identify, secure, and protect emerging innovations
- Provide strategic guidance on patent landscape and freedom-to-operate
- Identify IP risks and opportunities and propose strategies to strengthen AROA’s position
- Advise new product and R&D project teams
- Conduct landscape/novelty searches
- Lead patent drafting and prosecution
- Outline IP risk and opportunities and manage IP defense
- Work closely with VP – Product Strategy, the IP Council, and key stakeholders
- Report to VP – Product Strategy; role is part-time (ideally 20–24 hours/week) and flexible
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in engineering
- At least 4 years of technical expertise
- At least 2 years' experience in the IP space
- Experience with patent drafting and prosecution
- Ability to conduct landscape/novelty searches and freedom-to-operate assessments
- Self-starter able to move forward with ambiguity and shift gears
- Action-orientated with strong stakeholder communication skills
- Existing New Zealand working rights
