About the role
- Source, negotiate, and finalize the purchase of mineral and royalty interests within the energy sector.
- Initiate and maintain contact with mineral and royalty owners nationwide using phone, email, and other channels; leverage CRM tools to track engagement and opportunities.
- Negotiate terms and finalize agreements with prospective sellers, with support and guidance from senior leadership.
- Manage the full acquisition process from initial outreach to contract closure.
- Oversee and organize a robust pipeline of prospects to consistently meet or exceed individual and team acquisition targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Work closely with internal teams across Operations, Investments, Land, Valuations, Engineering, and Legal to ensure seamless transaction execution.
- Draft and present offer letters and supporting documentation to potential sellers.
- Perform relationship-building and effective communication to understand seller needs and motivations and ensure mutually beneficial agreements.
- Occasional travel to Arkansas and collaboration with cross-functional leadership.
Requirements
- Home based very near or in North Dakota (must physically sit in or near North Dakota).
- Significant Sales/Acquisition Manager experience (Landman).
- Minimum of 5-10+ years' experience in mineral and royalty acquisitions (minimum 5 years required).
- Demonstrated history of achieving at least $7 million in annual acquisitions.
- Proven ability to close significant transaction volumes; experience with significant one-time sales cycles/transactions (non-repeat customers).
- Comfortable and experienced with high volume cold calling and able to source leads in addition to staff.
- In-depth industry knowledge, including market trends and valuation methodologies within the oil and gas sector.
- Advanced negotiation, analytical, and written communication skills.
- Strong emotional intelligence and ability to build rapport and trust with stakeholders.
- Adaptability and effectiveness in fast-paced, collaborative, small-team environments.
- Client will extensively check past supervisor references and look for tenure and progressive track record.
