About the role
- Solicit and review new and renewal account information required to evaluate a risk
- Identify potential exposures and hazards relative to coverage requested and individual risk characteristics
- Underwrite, price and prepare Casualty quote proposals using existing product set and in compliance with regulatory filings
- Engage with internal resources (Risk Engineering, Claims) to assist with risk assessment
- Prepare final quotation/proposal and present to producer and/or prospective insured
- Coordinate administrative duties related to existing and prospective accounts
- Quarterback post-bind activities including policy production, compliance issues, audits and adjustments, TPA coordination and related items
- Deliver account service plans with internal team members to customers
- Manage pre-renewal reviews and the renewal process to achieve retention and rate goals
- Develop and maintain relationships with key agency personnel to generate qualified submissions
- Develop strategic plan for positioning and selling Arch at agency and insured levels
- Responsible for underwriting and policy file documentation and ad hoc projects to enhance efficiency/productivity
Requirements
- Ten (10) years of Casualty underwriting experience
- Construction underwriting experience preferred
- Established broker relationships within the region would be ideal
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training required
- CPCU or CRIS designation a plus
- Understanding and knowledge of the intent, scope and purpose of Workers Compensation, General Liability, Automobile and Excess coverage forms and endorsements
- Understanding and knowledge of exposure identification and analysis and the basics of guaranteed cost and small deductible underwriting
- Cross functional generalist knowledge of claims, risk control, audit, premium accounting, reinsurance, finance and legal
- Knowledge of Casualty regulatory and compliance issues
- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and presentation
- Strong sales and negotiation skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability and willingness to travel to develop and maintain relationships in assigned territory
