About the role
- Responsible for technical underwriting and account management of large account construction casualty programs
- Technical underwriting: solicit/review submissions, identify exposures, assess risk, structure loss sensitive programs, price and prepare proposals
- Account management: manage post-bind activities (policy production, compliance, audits, legal agreements, collateral, TPA coordination), renewals and retention, mid-term account reviews
- Sales and marketing: develop/maintain producer and insured relationships, strategic positioning, generate qualified submissions
- Administrative: maintain underwriting and policy file documentation, complete ad hoc projects as assigned
- Arch is a Bermuda-based specialty insurer with global operations
Requirements
- 10+ years of underwriting experience and/or 10+ years experience in the construction industry and/or insurance industry
- Established broker relationships within the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Region preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training required
- CPCU or similar designation a plus
- Understanding and knowledge of Workers Compensation, General Liability, Automobile coverage forms and endorsements
- Thorough understanding of loss sensitive programs (products, pricing, expensing, actuarial loss projecting techniques, retention and aggregate setting, limit profiles, ALAE, facultative reinsurance)
- Understanding of exposure identification and analysis
- Cross-functional knowledge of claims, risk control, audit, premium accounting, finance and legal
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues
- Knowledge of Arch’s product set
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
- Sales and negotiation skills
- Leadership and ability to support other team members
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and influence without authority
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
