About the role
- Ensure the availability, performance, and security of SQL Server databases supporting AMSURG systems
- Perform routine administration, including maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, and patching of database environments
- Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and index management to ensure system efficiency
- Manage backup and recovery processes and ensure adherence to RPO/RTO requirements
- Implement and maintain database security, user access, and role-based permissions
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to resolve database-related incidents and support request tickets
- Provide technical guidance during system design, integration, and architecture discussions
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding issues, timelines, and impacts
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for database environments, standards, and operational procedures
- Monitor system health and proactively identify issues, risks, or optimization opportunities
- Follow change management, SDLC processes, and operational best practices
- Participate in on-call rotation and support after-hours maintenance as needed
- Stay current with emerging SQL Server features, industry best practices, and security standards
- Recommend improvements to database architecture, performance, and reliability
- Participate in team knowledge-sharing and process maturity efforts
Requirements
- Understanding of core DBA tasks such as backups, restores, performance monitoring, indexing, query tuning, and security management
- Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and T-SQL
- Basic scripting (i.e. PowerShell) is a plus but not required
- Working experience SDLC processes, change management, and working within structured deployment workflows
- Knowledge of implementing and managing Privacy, Security
- Able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and teammates
- Keeps current on emerging trends and makes
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication
- Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and reliability
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
