About the role

  • Manage the development process by collaborating closely with Merchandisers, Technical Design and Vendors.
  • Ensure design integrity, product quality, and target price are maintained.
  • Develop products on schedule and deliver within allocated timelines; adhere to company’s product calendar.
  • Work in partnership with Technical Design from initial concept to maintaining product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate on technical packages in PDM, focusing on BOM and Tech Pack updates for production.
  • Determine best construction options during fittings in tandem with Technical Designers.
  • Propose changes from development/production perspectives to improve products and costing for successful commercialization.
  • Communicate all style development progress to vendors, address concerns to ensure accurate delivery.
  • Perform root cause analysis, communicate findings, and recommend solutions to resolve issues.
  • Anticipate and identify potential obstacles in development, costing & delivery.
  • Develop and maintain cross-functional relationships with design, buyers, TD, R&D, and merchandising regarding changes/discrepancies/on-time delivery.
  • Build repeat sheets and colour standards with Merchandiser.
  • Participate in garment fittings (with Technical Design).
  • Assign labels/tags from PLM library and maintain fabric/color standards, trims and accessories libraries.
  • Coordinate with vendors on all sample spec checks and fitting results.
  • Update and maintain Product Development Work In Progress (WIP).

Requirements

  • 2-5 years' experience in menswear apparel or fashion design, product development or a similar type of role.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in apparel production, fashion, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with PLM software.
  • Hands-on experience with garment measurements and POM.
  • High proficiency with Adobe Illustrator.
  • Pattern-making ability using software is a plus.
  • Knowledge and/or good understanding of grading would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills and organization skills.
  • Keen interest in textile product development.
  • Strong time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • A self-starter who takes ownership of their work.
  • Must have a positive attitude.
