About the role
- Perform complex engineering work activities and projects under assigned supervisor
- Apply engineering knowledge, theory and analytical techniques to solve diverse problems and complete extensive analysis
- Analyze interrelationships between systems and component equipment
- Analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes
- Coordinate work activities of others and provide training/guidance to lower-level employees
- Use scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts) for budget and planning activities; coordinate development of input to forecast costs
- Initiate corrective action when project objectives are not being met
- Resolve routine problems and identify problems beyond the normal routine; seek opportunities and new approaches
- Develop, review, and present technical reports such as improvement requisitions, studies, and analyses
- Network with peers, identify stakeholders, resolve conflict, and build consensus
- Make decisions subject to review within established policies and procedures; apply economic analysis and understand utility regulation and financing
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET* (acceptable alternatives described in posting)
- Acceptable alternative: Bachelor's (non-ABET) plus a Master's or PhD from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination encouraged and preferred (Engineer Associate level)
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico encouraged/preferred for higher levels
- Years of related engineering experience vary by level: entry (new graduates) up to 8+ years for Principal (ranges: 0, 2+, 4+, 6+, 8+ years)
- Competency in analytical techniques and the application of engineering theory
- Ability to understand interrelationship between systems and component equipment
- Ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes
- Experience coordinating work activities and providing training/guidance to lower-level employees
- Experience with planning and scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts)
- Proficiency in economic analysis techniques and understanding of utility regulation and financing
- Ability to develop, review, and present technical reports and studies
- Strong interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow company policies, external regulations, and safety practices
