About the role
- Develop and optimize complex analytics solutions leveraging BBCRM ad hoc queries and Power BI to deliver strategic insights for Philanthropy teams — often requiring rapid response times.
- Design and maintain reporting frameworks and KPIs to monitor fundraising performance; document technical definitions to ensure consistent measurement.
- Engage with requestors to gather business requirements, determine appropriate deliverables, and negotiate timelines based on complexity and capacity.
- Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) for datasets and dashboards, ensuring functionality, usability, and alignment with business requirements.
- Serve as PDS's primary Power BI dashboard builder, ensuring successful end-to-end development and translating complex data into insights that drive organizational decision-making.
- Prepare data presentations for leadership and stakeholder meetings, including Excel workbooks and PowerPoint decks; utilize effective data visualization to convey key insights.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline reporting through automation and data source consolidation.
- Support a shared reporting and analytics queue processing more than 1,000 requests annually; serve as escalation point for complex Freshservice requests requiring advanced troubleshooting or cross-system diagnosis.
- Advance reporting governance, data standards, and change management through documentation, communication, and stakeholder enablement.
- Track dependencies, risks, and status across multiple concurrent efforts; communicate status updates to stakeholders as needed.
- Partner with Technology to translate Philanthropy reporting needs into actionable technical requirements; communicate updates to internal stakeholders.
- Act as a subject matter expert on Power BI, CRM querying, and report authoring; support training and resource development to build team-wide data literacy.
- Provide technical guidance and peer support to Insight team members, building foundational mentorship skills in preparation for future leadership opportunities.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in philanthropy, nonprofit, higher education, or healthcare fundraising environments
- Demonstrated experience building complex ad hoc queries using advanced business logic in a CRM environment (Blackbaud CRM preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in Power BI, including hands-on experience designing dashboards, authoring DAX measures, and managing datasets in a production environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, complex formulas, Power Query, and data visualization) required
- Demonstrated experience effectively prioritizing projects, tasks, and deadlines in a high-stakes, dynamic work environment with competing deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to data integrity and accuracy
- Discretion handling confidential donor information
- Familiarity with SQL, including view creation a plus
- Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Asana preferred
- Experience with Freshservice or similar ticketing platforms preferred
- Experience developing and delivering end-user training preferred
- Experience working with a PMO a plus
- Proven ability to influence decision-making through insight.
