About the role

  • Lead change management and claims, including identification, quantification, defense and resolution of incoming and outgoing claims.
  • Oversee administration of all project contracts (prime contract, subcontractors, service agreements, engineering and procurement contracts, and other commercial agreements), ensuring compliance with procedures, schedules and contractual deliverables.
  • Lead major contract negotiations with the client, subcontractors and partners, focusing on financial optimization, legal protections and risk management.
  • Oversee commercial planning and strategic procurement processes, including tendering, bid evaluation and award recommendations.
  • Contribute to cost estimating, budget validation and monitoring of project financial performance, in collaboration with the Project Director and Project Controls teams.
  • Actively participate in project governance, including monitoring costs, schedules, risks and financial forecasts.
  • Provide commercial and financial analysis, reports and performance indicators to project management, executive bodies and governance committees.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Insurance and Project Controls teams to ensure integrated management of contractual, financial and risk issues.
  • Drive commercial management of project close-out, including the warranty period, post-delivery obligations and O&M aspects.
  • Lead and mobilize a project commercial team, ensuring alignment, performance and accountability.

Requirements

  • 20+ years of commercial management experience on major projects, including complex infrastructure projects of EPC, DB, DBFOM or lump-sum types (projects > $500M).
  • University degree in law, engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Excellent command of construction contracts, change management, claims and disputes.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, financial issues, project cash flow and risk management.
  • Proven experience in contract administration, tendering, procurement, subcontract management and earned value management.
  • Proficiency with tools and systems such as Primavera P6, integrated ERP systems and commercial tracking tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a complex, high-pressure environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both verbal and written.
