About the role
- Design and implement digital and mixed-signal circuits for professional audio/video products
- End-to-end PCB design including component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, hardware documentation release, board bring-up, test, debug, and system integration
- Perform circuit simulation and signal/power integrity simulation
- Evaluate audio performance of components and systems
- Propose and drive technical solutions balancing technical, financial, manufacturability, quality, and time-to-market constraints
- Conduct design reviews and provide feedback to peers and design partners
- Create and document test plans for design qualification and carry out verification/validation activities
- Document detailed findings in qualification reports and resolve EMC/regulatory issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, firmware, test, manufacturing, program managers, supply chain) and work closely with offshore ODMs/CMs
- Hands-on prototype development and debugging
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 6+ years of experience designing, troubleshooting, and testing digital and mixed-signal circuits (embedded designs for the audio/video market preferred)
- Experience using CAD tools for schematic entry and layout (Altium preferred)
- Hands-on proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM, protocol analyzers, Audio Precision
- Knowledge of microprocessor-based embedded systems
- Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, I2S, PCIe, USB
- Experience implementing design techniques for signal integrity and power integrity
- Experience generating and releasing hardware documentation (BOM, Gerbers, etc.)
- Experience with simulation tools (HyperLynx, SPICE, etc.) preferred
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and test methods (UL, FCC, CE) a plus
- Experience working with offshore ODMs and Contract Manufacturers highly desired
- Must be located in (or willing to work from) Costa Mesa, CA; Boulder, CO; or Ft. Wayne, IN (minimal travel to Costa Mesa expected)
