About the role
- Be the technical authority for Customer Success. You'll lead technical onboarding, architecture reviews, and integration guidance for our customer portfolio. You'll partner with CSMs to ensure customers are set up for long-term success, acting as their trusted technical advisor throughout their journey with Ably.
- Architect and advise on complex integrations. You'll review customer code and system designs, provide best practice guidance on event-driven architectures, and help customers optimize their use of Ably's platform. You'll lead technical conversations with engineers, architects, and CTOs to solve their most challenging realtime messaging problems.
- Build solutions that showcase Ably’s capabilities. You'll write code examples, create live demos, and prototype integrations, leveraging AI to amplify your output whilst maintaining the engineering rigor and quality that our customers expect.
- Champion customer needs internally. You'll act as the voice of the customer within Ably, gathering feedback to influence product roadmaps, improve documentation, and enhance the overall developer experience. You'll partner with Product, Engineering, and DevEx teams to ensure customer insights drive meaningful improvements.
- Drive customer growth through technical excellence. You'll identify opportunities where additional Ably functionality can unlock value for customers, working with CSMs to drive technically-led expansion conversations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a customer-facing, hands-on technical role at a technical B2B SaaS or API-first company, with a track record of helping customers implement and scale complex technical solutions.
- Strong software development skills (ideally in Javascript), with a deep understanding of programming and development concepts, including event-driven systems and distributed architectures.
- A developer-first mindset with natural empathy for technical users. You understand what developers need because you think like one. You know that great APIs, clear documentation, and fast integration paths matter deeply to technical customers.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify expansion opportunities and build compelling technical narratives that demonstrate customer value.
- An AI-native working style. You embrace LLMs and AI tools as productivity multipliers, using them to accelerate code examples, documentation, and technical assets without sacrificing quality or depth.
- Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple accounts.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all organizational levels, including C-suite executives.
- Experience working with Sales, Product and Engineering teams to orchestrate complex customer engagements and drive successful outcomes, and collaborating with Marketing on customer and social content.
