Solutions Engineer

• Be the technical authority for Customer Success. You'll lead technical onboarding, architecture reviews, and integration guidance for our customer portfolio. You'll partner with CSMs to ensure customers are set up for long-term success, acting as their trusted technical advisor throughout their journey with Ably.
• Architect and advise on complex integrations. You'll review customer code and system designs, provide best practice guidance on event-driven architectures, and help customers optimize their use of Ably's platform. You'll lead technical conversations with engineers, architects, and CTOs to solve their most challenging realtime messaging problems.
• Build solutions that showcase Ably’s capabilities. You'll write code examples, create live demos, and prototype integrations, leveraging AI to amplify your output whilst maintaining the engineering rigor and quality that our customers expect.
• Champion customer needs internally. You'll act as the voice of the customer within Ably, gathering feedback to influence product roadmaps, improve documentation, and enhance the overall developer experience. You'll partner with Product, Engineering, and DevEx teams to ensure customer insights drive meaningful improvements.
• Drive customer growth through technical excellence. You'll identify opportunities where additional Ably functionality can unlock value for customers, working with CSMs to drive technically-led expansion conversations.

Solutions Architect

Technical Writer

• Educate and provide instruction. You’ll break down complex topics by writing clear, concise and intuitive explanations of Ably’s technology features, and APIs.
• Produce engaging educational content. You’ll create and maintain documentation, guides, example projects, onboarding materials and code samples. You’ll also help shape new formats that improve developer learning and drive adoption.
• Write and reason about code. You’ll create, review, and improve code samples, ensuring they are accurate, idiomatic, and easy for developers to understand and reuse.
• Improve developer experience and onboarding. You’ll remove friction from developer journeys, making it faster and easier for our users to succeed with Ably. You’ll act as an advocate for their perspectives, providing insights that shape better outcomes.
• Develop a strong understanding of Ably. You’ll build a broad understanding of Ably’s platform, products and use cases, supported by an experienced Developer Education team that collaborates closely and shares knowledge.

Senior Developer Educator/Technical Writer

Developer Relations

• Lead technical execution and vision. You’ll lead a team of five engineers building customer-facing web applications. You’ll partner with the DevEx PM as a unified leadership team, co-owning the delivery of a developer experience that becomes a reference point for the industry.
• Drive a product-first engineering culture. You’ll foster an environment where engineers are themselves principal stakeholders of product features, and obsess over customer outcomes. You’ll challenge the "feature factory" mentality and build a team that takes true ownership of the product.
• Be the technical authority. You’ll own the technical architecture and design decisions for our dashboard, docs platform, marketing website, and billing UI. You will ensure these applications effectively demonstrate Ably's realtime capabilities.
• Thrive in a rapid iteration environment. You’ll operate in a high-velocity workspace where PMs, customers, and engineers co-create features. You’ll lead the team in working full-stack to iterate, improve, and ship improvements quickly.
• Champion AI-assisted development. You’ll be a catalyst for AI adoption across the team. You’ll leverage LLMs and AI tools to accelerate velocity without compromising on engineering integrity.
• Guide engineering outcomes and quality. You’ll set and enforce high standards for code review, testing, and production readiness. You will participate in incident response and coordinate with the Infrastructure team on platform dependencies and deployments.
• Mentor and grow the team. You’ll manage performance, career development, and hiring. You will hold the team accountable for delivery commitments while providing the mentorship needed to turn engineers into product-minded leaders.
