Manage import/export process and develop effective internal controls to ensure site compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
Act as subject matter expert and advisor regarding compliant importation and/or exportation of goods; stay abreast of new import/export regulations and programs
Develop and implement cross-functional SOPs and update them to reflect new corporate or regulatory requirements
Provide technical guidance for international projects and collaborate with R&D, Purchasing, Planning, Third Party Manufacturing, Engineering, Regulatory and Marketing
Manage import/export compliance personnel including hiring, goal setting, performance management, coaching, and team projects
Oversee site compliance with special trade programs including Free Trade Agreements (FTA), Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), and Duty Drawback
Develop and implement Compliance Improvement Plans to address issues from import/export compliance assessments
Review opportunities for cost reductions and recommend to management
Develop and manage transactional review/audit process of all import/export records
Maintain relationships with carriers and brokers to resolve broker/freight issues and ensure timely product flow
Maintain proper import/export recordkeeping controls to ensure compliance with 19CFR and 15CFR
Accountable for compliant importation and exportation of goods and services, including proper classification and valuation
Supervise direct reports and take action when non-compliance with U.S. Customs, BIS or OGA regulations is identified
Requirements
Bachelors Degree Required
Masters Degree Preferred
Minimum of 6 years experience in import/export operations, international business, or other related field
Sound analytical abilities and familiarity with enforcement of internal controls
Previous supervisory experience and ability to develop personnel are a plus
Effective negotiating, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to recommend approaches to influence division/site management and implement compliance processes across departments
Knowledge of U.S. Customs, BIS, OGA regulations, classification and valuation, FTAs, FTZ, and Duty Drawback
Ability to maintain import/export recordkeeping controls in accordance with 19CFR and 15CFR
