About the role
- Contribute to complex engineering projects and products through designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software applications
- Design, create and maintain product-centric functional PLC and HMI programs
- Support and maintain development through all stages of the CI/CD lifecycle
- Identifying and implementing operational improvements
- Create and apply innovative algorithms for mechanical and electrical system controls
- Implementing changes to existing and creating new engineering designs
- Conduct code reviews, regression testing, end-to-end testing, debugging, and more
- Contribute to projects and post-deployment activities by providing technical documentation, adhering to coding standards, and troubleshooting issues
- Execute on-site control system and software commissioning at global rail locations
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in controls and/or software development
- A related degree or diploma in Electrical, Mechatronics, Control or Electronic
- Experienced in all phases of the development life cycle
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Proficient in PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell, etc.)
- Profound understanding of control algorithms and design practices
- Knowledgeable in industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Modbus, CAN etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate to an array of technical and non-technical audiences
- Passion for learning and keeping up to date with new technologies
- Ability to travel and work in industrial environments
