About the role

  • Contribute to complex engineering projects and products through designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software applications
  • Design, create and maintain product-centric functional PLC and HMI programs
  • Support and maintain development through all stages of the CI/CD lifecycle
  • Identifying and implementing operational improvements
  • Create and apply innovative algorithms for mechanical and electrical system controls
  • Implementing changes to existing and creating new engineering designs
  • Conduct code reviews, regression testing, end-to-end testing, debugging, and more
  • Contribute to projects and post-deployment activities by providing technical documentation, adhering to coding standards, and troubleshooting issues
  • Execute on-site control system and software commissioning at global rail locations

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in controls and/or software development
  • A related degree or diploma in Electrical, Mechatronics, Control or Electronic
  • Experienced in all phases of the development life cycle
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Proficient in PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell, etc.)
  • Profound understanding of control algorithms and design practices
  • Knowledgeable in industrial communication protocols (Profinet, Modbus, CAN etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate to an array of technical and non-technical audiences
  • Passion for learning and keeping up to date with new technologies
  • Ability to travel and work in industrial environments
