About the role

  • Act as technical window to Japanese commercial vehicle customers, aligning with ZF global R&D.
  • Lead application development and evaluation of driveline products.
  • Support integration of ZF products into customer vehicle systems (Engine Control, Main Computer, Brake systems, etc.).
  • Perform requirement analysis, specification consolidation, deliverables management, and validation tests.
  • Evaluate functional safety, diagnostics, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Manage project timelines, vehicle testing plans, and execution.
  • Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders for technical discussions and issue resolution.
  • Provide technical presentations and support for new business acquisition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of development experience in the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of automotive components, preferably Powertrain
  • Experience in development-related activities such as project support, application engineering, or vehicle calibration
  • Software testing and CAN communication knowledge
  • Familiarity with CAN tools (CANape, CANalyzer)
  • Understanding of cybersecurity and functional safety standards, including UN‑R155/156, SUMS, and ISO 26262
  • Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork skills
  • Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese (reading, writing, communication)
