Lead and supervise the accounting team in day-to-day operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and bank reconciliations.
Oversee and ensure the timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, in full compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Act as the primary liaison for external auditors and tax advisors, managing audits and regulatory reporting for Zema Services UK and Zema Singapore.
Interpret and apply complex accounting standards and technical guidance, such as ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 842 (Leases).
Maintain accurate vendor and customer records within NetSuite, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
Oversee the preparation and maintenance of financial schedules, execution of amortization schedules, and conduct regular revenue-to-budget variance analyses.
Ensure full compliance with all applicable regulatory, tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
Ensure timely and appropriate recording of accruals in accordance with accounting standards and company policy.
Lead the maintenance of internal controls and accounting policies to support audit readiness and financial integrity.
Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy across accounting operations.
Provide mentorship, training, and ongoing development opportunities for accounting staff to support skill growth and team performance.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA, CA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred
6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a managerial or lead role
Proven experience working in a complex, multi-entity environment, ideally within Commodities, Energy, Financial Services, or a similarly regulated industry
Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with hands-on experience applying ASC 606 Revenue Recognition and ASC 842 Leases
End-to-end ownership of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
Experience acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors
Advanced experience with NetSuite or a comparable enterprise ERP system
Strong understanding of internal controls, audit readiness, and statutory reporting requirements
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members
High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and meet tight deadlines
Clear, confident communicator who can explain accounting matters to non-finance stakeholders.
