About the role
- Ensure the stable operation of in-house computer software systems and network connections
- Plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, and optimize all network software and communication links
- Organize and direct the configuration and operation of information management systems
- Provide both local and remote maintenance support to various operational systems deployed at more than one location
- Conduct capacity and performance analysis and provide system configuration change and upgrade recommendations
- Increase system administrator efficiency and accuracy via the use of automated tools and scripts
- Develop system administrator procedures
- Conduct system administrator training and skills assessment
- Optimize system and resource performance
- Monitor system health and proactively address potential issues
- Analyze and resolve end user software program and connectivity issues
- Direct the work of other system administrators to provide day-to-day system administration including system and resource optimization and user assistance
- Perform vulnerability management
- Develop implementation plan and schedule for security compliance
- Install and implement CERTS, CTOs, other IA directives, mandates and regulations including Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Readiness Reviews (SRRs)
- Prepare Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs) as required and implement mitigation measures/strategies as required
- Project long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function
- Design, create, and maintain databases in client/server environment and other required environments
- Run queries and develop reports from databases
- Assist stakeholders in resolving issues/concerns/problems as they relate to system access and availability
Requirements
- 10 years of specialized Information Technology experience
- At least 10 years of concentrated, hands-on experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and resolving issues with various software
- Expert-level systems administration across multiple platforms
- Advanced knowledge of various operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, etc.)
- Network software installation, configuration, and maintenance
- System optimization and performance analysis
- Application networking and load balancing expertise
- Fault tolerance implementation and management
- Vulnerability management and security patching
- Configuration management processes
- Capacity and performance analysis capabilities
- Automation via scripts and tools development
- End user support and training delivery
- Software installation and troubleshooting across multiple platforms
- Database administration knowledge (web administration of computerized databases)
- Client/server environment management
- Quality control and auditing capabilities
- Advanced technical knowledge of communication links
- Experience with DBMS software/patch/upgrade management
- Understanding of CERT/CTO/IA directives/mandates/regulations
- Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) implementation
- Security Readiness Reviews (SRRs) experience
- Backup and recovery procedures
- Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning and execution
- Remote maintenance support capabilities
- Data management and reporting
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) support
- DISA, J64 TFS, and Azure GovCloud environments experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and training skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of DoD/DLA processes, policies, and procedures
- Understanding of Section 508 compliance requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite for documentation
