About the role
- Provide broad legal support to one or more client teams in Yum! D&T’s Commercial Products vertical (e.g., Product, Engineering & Architecture, and Reliability & Engineering teams), Enterprise Technology vertical (e.g., AI and Data, IT Shared Services, Global Technology Risk Management, and Restaurant Technology Operations), and Support functions (e.g., Finance, Strategy and HR) on a diverse range of matters and issues associated with the development and deployment of Yum!-owned technology and services into restaurants around the globe.
- Independently draft, negotiate and facilitate execution of strategically important SaaS, PaaS, cloud services, IT infrastructure, technology, license, and other commercial agreements tied to Yum! D&T’s products, services, and strategy.
- Partner with the Yum! Trademarks team to review, and obtain clearance for, trademarks associated with Yum! D&T’s portfolio of products and services; advise Yum! D&T Product and Strategy teams on guardrails around usage, in line with broader business objectives and organizational risk tolerance.
- Partner with Yum! Procurement to conduct request for proposals (RFPs) for products and services connected to the Yum! D&T suite of products and services.
- Lead and/or participate on project teams and working groups associated with Yum!’s ambition to be the world’s preeminent “digital franchisor”; participate in, and provide legal support for, other ad hoc projects, as assigned.
- Develop and maintain expertise in areas of the law impacting Yum! D&T’s products, services and strategy, including those around data privacy, AI, intellectual property, technology and commercial contracts.
Requirements
- This position requires a Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials.
- Ideal candidates will have at least 3-5 years of prior experience in a law firm or in-house legal department. Candidates must be a member, licensed and in good standing, with a State Bar.
- Substantive knowledge of, and experience with, corporate/commercial transactions, including broad knowledge of corporate and contracts law (prefer experience with strategic and technology transactions)
- Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and oral), with demonstrated ability to influence others
- Experience working with clients at all levels of an organization
- Ability to self-start and drive action individually and collaboratively in a collegial environment
- Sound judgment, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proficiency on cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed environment
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks as well as successfully handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High personal and professional integrity and the ability to establish personal credibility and trust across the organization.
