About the role

  • Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade databases and data models to support reporting, analytics, and internal applications
  • Build and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines integrating data from multiple business systems
  • Develop and maintain reusable SQL queries, views, stored procedures and automation scripts
  • Deliver high-quality Power BI datasets, dashboards, and reports, ensuring performance, reliability, and usability
  • Configure and manage Power BI gateways, refresh schedules, and data access controls
  • Monitor and improve data pipeline and platform performance, availability, and scalability
  • Apply best practices in data governance, security, documentation, and standardisation
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud and IT teams to ensure solutions are robust and well supported
  • Continuously improve data workflows through automation and optimisation

Requirements

  • Strong expertise in SQL and relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
  • Proven experience designing and optimising databases and complex queries
  • Hands-on experience developing Power BI reports, datasets, and data models
  • Experience building ETL pipelines using Python or similar scripting languages (e.g., Python, Django, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Solid understanding of data modelling, performance tuning, and data quality principles
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve data, performance, and reporting issues
  • Experience working with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS or similar) (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, and enterprise data architectures (Desirable)
  • Experience automating data workflows and deployments (Desirable)
  • Exposure to web technologies used in data-enabled applications (e.g. JavaScript, HTML/CSS) (Desirable)
  • Understanding of data governance, access control, and compliance in enterprise environments (Desirable)
