About the role

  • The Data Coordinator is responsible for data support across the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute (WVCTSI) Clinical Trials Center of Excellence (COE).
  • Assists with the implementation of research and administrative strategies essential to the successful management of Phase II/III/IV clinical trials research conducted by faculty at West Virginia University Health Sciences Center.
  • Performs a variety of independent and collaborative duties involved in clinical trial management under the direction of clinical trials manager and will include documentation, tracking, data abstraction and collection and compilation of clinical research data.
  • In addition, the data coordinator will work as a phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy and duties related to the collection of clinical samples and data, across multiple studies.
  • Provides program, as well as direct internal and external client support services, responds to inquiries and independently resolves matters of low complexity.
  • Work effort has considerable impact on client services, program and project image, with potential legal liabilities.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in research, clinical support; or working in a clinical setting. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • Strong problem-solving, risk assessment and impact analysis abilities.
  • Strong work processing skills and understanding and the ability to handle stress and work under pressure.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Computer proficiency and familiarity with use, including Microsoft Office
  • General knowledge of medical terminology
  • Skilled at phlebotomy
  • Ability to travel with WV CTSI Mobile Clinical Trial Unit with occasion overnight stays within West Virginia
