About the role

  • Lead configuration and management of West Virginia University’s cloud-based digital signage network for all WVU campuses and partners
  • Work with web applications, video server databases, and computer systems affiliated with television studio operations
  • Build partnerships with campus communicators and learn skills related to live multimedia and studio productions
  • Windows System Administration: manage Group Policy, IIS, server automation, multi-site Windows environment across WVU campuses
  • SQL Server Management: configure and manage SQL databases, create complex queries, backups and optimization
  • Web Development: program using HTML, HTML5, Python, and C++; test, document, and maintain operator instructions
  • Video and Multimedia Support: serve as video engineering technician or production assistant for live multi-camera productions; install/transport equipment and integrate specialized studio equipment
  • Provide primary support and ticketing with software vendors, explore new software features, and maintain client communications about digital signage players/screens

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, management of information systems, or related field
  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience with a combination of the following: Web development and supporting programming languages, SQL database experience, Windows server experience, Computer hardware
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of database management, documentation, and project control techniques
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Windows Server operations
  • Proven programming experience
  • Familiarity with digital file formats (WMV, MP4, H265, H264, MOV, AVI, WAV, WMA, MP3, JPEG, PNG, TIF, BMP, GIF)
  • Knowledge of video streaming techniques and protocols such as RTMP, HTTP, MPEG-DASH and WebRTC
  • Extensive PowerShell experience
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN/vLAN, TCP/IP, UDP
  • Working knowledge of Windows Hyper-V Replication with Hyper-V Server failover
  • Ability to build web pages and web apps incorporating RSS feeds, live video and server-based video playback
  • Knowledge of cloud-based digital signage network management processes and workflows
  • Preferred: Digital signage software and workflow experience (preferably Yodeck), multimedia production, Adobe Creative Cloud experience, audio signal distribution knowledge
  • Requirements: Valid Driver's License
