About the role
- Perform the finance, accounting and operational support activities for owned and company managed hotels.
- Oversee day-to-day Accounting functions of assigned properties and corporate books.
- Oversee all property specific invoices: verifying invoice accuracy and approving.
- Review/post all cash receipts/disbursements in a timely manner.
- Reconcile property specific A/R between corporate or other properties.
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations for all given properties.
- Record write-offs and monthly loan payments; maintain insurance and real estate taxes roll forward schedules.
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts with related schedules, including mortgage accounts, and capital disbursements/contributions.
- Responsible for full-cycle month-end and prepares monthly & quarterly financial statements within scheduled deadlines in accordance with GAAP.
- Analyze monthly & quarterly financial statements and budgets.
- Track Delinquency/Aging and contact property managers accordingly.
- Review weekly property account balance to manage cash flow effectively.
- Calculate the monthly property management fees for property portfolio.
- Calculate monthly state sales & use taxes and county /city occupancy taxes.
- Prepare year-end tax work papers and supporting documentation for tax returns.
- Participate in identifying and resolving problems and inconsistencies, recommending appropriate corrective procedures.
- Post bi-weekly payroll calculations and calculate monthly payroll accruals for month end.
- Perform other duties as requested or as responsibilities directed from CFO/Controller.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited university, preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of applicable accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Excel should be intermediate level, at a minimum.
- Must be a self-starter with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Effective and professional verbal and written communication with co-workers, vendors, and customers.
- Multi-location and/or multi-state accounting experience.
- Experience with M3 Accounting + Analytics software.
- Sales tax preparation, including knowledge of tax exemptions and use tax.
