About the role
- **Responsibilities **
- Own and maintain technical documentation for Wowza Streaming Engine, including:
- Installation and deployment guides
- Configuration and administration documentation
- Feature and release documentation
- Troubleshooting and operational guidance
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and QA to understand new features, changes, and technical constraints.
- Translate complex streaming, encoding, and server-side concepts into clear, accurate, and usable documentation for technical audiences.
- Document REST APIs, configuration options, and workflows used by developers and system administrators.
- Review engineering artifacts (code changes, design docs, pull requests) to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain and update content within our knowledge base.
- Use Git and the command line to manage documentation updates, review changes, and participate in versioned release workflows.
- Help define and improve documentation standards, structure, and best practices across the product.
- Partner with support and field teams to address documentation gaps and common customer issues.
Requirements
- **Required Qualifications **
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing for software, developer tools, or infrastructure products.
- Proven experience collaborating directly with engineering and product teams.
- Strong ability to understand and document complex technical systems.
- Experience documenting APIs and developer-facing features.
- Working knowledge of Git, including basic command-line workflows.
- Excellent written communication skills, with a focus on clarity, precision, and usability.
- **Preferred Qualifications **
- Familiarity with Wowza Streaming Engine, video streaming technologies, or media workflows (HLS, DASH, transcoding, etc.).
- The ideal candidate has experience with Java and Python, is comfortable reading code, and has familiarity with cloud-native technologies and emerging AI systems.
- Understanding of REST API concepts, including endpoints, authentication, and request/response patterns.
- Experience maintaining documentation in a React-based or static-site developer portal.
- Familiarity with Markdown, MDX, and lightweight JSX.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based development environments.
