About the role

  • **Responsibilities **
  • Own and maintain technical documentation for Wowza Streaming Engine, including:
  • Installation and deployment guides
  • Configuration and administration documentation
  • Feature and release documentation
  • Troubleshooting and operational guidance
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and QA to understand new features, changes, and technical constraints.
  • Translate complex streaming, encoding, and server-side concepts into clear, accurate, and usable documentation for technical audiences.
  • Document REST APIs, configuration options, and workflows used by developers and system administrators.
  • Review engineering artifacts (code changes, design docs, pull requests) to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain and update content within our knowledge base.
  • Use Git and the command line to manage documentation updates, review changes, and participate in versioned release workflows.
  • Help define and improve documentation standards, structure, and best practices across the product.
  • Partner with support and field teams to address documentation gaps and common customer issues.

Requirements

  • **Required Qualifications **
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing for software, developer tools, or infrastructure products.
  • Proven experience collaborating directly with engineering and product teams.
  • Strong ability to understand and document complex technical systems.
  • Experience documenting APIs and developer-facing features.
  • Working knowledge of Git, including basic command-line workflows.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a focus on clarity, precision, and usability.
  • **Preferred Qualifications **
  • Familiarity with Wowza Streaming Engine, video streaming technologies, or media workflows (HLS, DASH, transcoding, etc.).
  • The ideal candidate has experience with Java and Python, is comfortable reading code, and has familiarity with cloud-native technologies and emerging AI systems.
  • Understanding of REST API concepts, including endpoints, authentication, and request/response patterns.
  • Experience maintaining documentation in a React-based or static-site developer portal.
  • Familiarity with Markdown, MDX, and lightweight JSX.
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based development environments.
