About the role

  • Consult with parents or guardians, teachers, learners, and other relevant education actors to identify gender-specific challenges, barriers, and opportunities related to the content and delivery of CSE to inform curriculum adaptations and tool design
  • Adapt existing CSE curricula for both primary and secondary levels, ensuring that materials are age-appropriate, gender-sensitive, rights-based, inclusive, culturally sensitive, community-supported, and aligned with national education frameworks
  • Work in close collaboration with key actors, including the Ministry of General Education and Instruction (MoGEI), UNESCO, and other relevant partners to ensure coherence with ongoing national CSE efforts
  • Develop a comprehensive teacher training package and corresponding facilitation tools to enable effective CSE delivery in classroom and co-curricular settings
  • Pilot and test the adapted materials and training package in 25 schools, working with approximately 50 teachers to assess feasibility, relevance, and effectiveness
  • Strengthen the capacity of local education authorities (e.g. country education directors and inspectors) to provide effective oversight, mentorship, and ongoing support for teachers delivering CSE in schools
  • Collaborate with key project partners to share insights, resources, and recommendations to help inform and strengthen other related project activities (e.g. life skills, community engagement, teacher professional development, etc.)
  • Document lessons learned and recommendations to inform the potential scale-up of the approach at the state and national levels.

Requirements

  • Senior level technical expert/s with demonstrated experience in comprehensive sexuality education curriculum design, gender-transformative education, or related fields
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in education program design, implementation, or curriculum development within international development and/or fragile contexts, preferably with specific knowledge and experience in South Sudan
  • Proven experience in facilitating participatory design processes and engaging multiple actors (government, schools, parents, communities, and partners)
  • Strong analytical, research, design, and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Full fluency in English.
