About the role

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (physical and virtual) in production, test, and development environments.
  • Apply OS patches, kernel updates, and software upgrades in a controlled, documented manner.
  • Configure and manage key system services (e.g., SSH, web, database, cron, logging) according to standards and application requirements.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, including build sheets, runbooks, and configuration records.
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and performance using standard tools and dashboards; proactively address emerging issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve OS‑level, hardware, and basic network issues impacting Linux servers.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures; regularly test restores for critical systems and data.
  • Harden Linux systems by configuring firewalls, access controls, logging, and OS security settings aligned with company policies.
  • Manage user and group accounts, permissions, and sudo access to enforce least‑privilege principles.
  • Apply security patches promptly, monitor logs for suspicious activity, and support incident investigation as needed.
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts or simple automation to streamline routine administration tasks (e.g., deployments, checks, housekeeping).
  • Contribute to standard operating procedures and configuration baselines for Linux systems.
  • Support use of configuration management or orchestration tools where in place (e.g., Ansible, similar).

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred — but we also highly value equivalent hands-on experience!
  • 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience administering Linux servers in a production environment (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu).
  • Strong knowledge of Linux command line, system services, filesystems, and package management.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools and log analysis for troubleshooting performance and availability issues.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals as they relate to Linux servers (DNS, routing basics, firewalls).
  • Demonstrated experience with user and permission management, SSH, sudo, and basic security hardening.
  • Scripting proficiency in Bash; exposure to another scripting language (e.g., Python) is a plus.
  • Collaborates effectively across teams, partnering with application, database, networking, and security groups to ensure environments are delivered and supported in alignment with business needs.
  • Provides dependable Tier 2/3 support, approaching Linux‑related incidents and service requests with ownership, professionalism, and a calm presence during on‑call rotations.
  • Communicates with clarity and empathy, translating technical details into language that is accessible to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, especially during system changes, incidents, and impact discussions.
Benefits
  • USD Base Salary.
  • Enjoy Paid Time Off (PTO) after just 6 months of service.
  • Full-time opportunity.
  • Enjoy the freedom of a completely remote work environment!
