About the role

  • Responsible for enhancing the image of WM as a good corporate partner by working with employees, foundations, nonprofit agencies and local media to support and promote WM's community engagement
  • Develop a strategic vision for community relations activities based on the WM vision, strategy and values
  • Plan, implement and evaluate volunteer programs
  • Track, monitor and evaluate community relations activities and accomplishments, and provide recommendations to senior leadership
  • Implement environmental education programs that highlight the importance of sustainability
  • Serve on local boards and/or hold membership positions with key community organizations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Public Affairs/Administration or Public Relations, Business Administration or similar area of study
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant experience
  • 7 years previous experience including Corporate Business and/or Public Relations, city or county government
  • Master's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or similar area of study (preferred)
  • Certification in Public Relations desired but not required (APR)
