About the role
- Liaison with internal stakeholders and external sources, identify, assess and respond to security threats to executives within the company.
- Perform and interpret comprehensive risk assessments for threats made against WM executives who are attending events/trips.
- Collect and analyze online information related to WM or its executives, assess associated risks and implement appropriate security measures.
- Ability to manage and de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
- Ability to serve as the expert on executive security risks, advocating for balanced and appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop, document, and implement logistical and safety plans for both routine and threat-based scenarios.
- Provide senior leadership with pertinent safety and logistical information and recommendations.
- Oversee and manage third party vendors providing security services.
- Develop, implement and oversee operational security measures to support executives during travel and events, and complete security risk assessments, including advance work.
- Develop and communicate response protocols for executive related security events and effectively manage and/or support security’s response to any executive security related incident.
- Establish external engagement on best practices with governments, law enforcement and private sector sources.
- Develop, implement and oversee security measures for executive residences, including alarm responses, management of third-party contracts, security system integrators and private security companies.
- Ensure that executives security measures comply with local laws, international laws and company policies.
- Under the direction of the Director of Corporate Security, conducts investigations in cooperation and in support of legal, operations, Safety, HR and internal audit in compliance with company policy.
- Collaborates with others to ensure accurate and timely recording of case data into the case management system.
- Coaches' other partners as needed to ensure optimal investigative results.
- Routinely assesses site security, efficiently deploying resources in keeping with best practices.
- Provides support during labor actions by developing, implementing and overseeing security efforts that safeguard employees and ensure continuity of operations.
- Conducts training sessions pertaining to the investigative process.
- Ability to travel extensively, both domestically and internationally, sometimes with shortened advance notice.
- Conducts special projects and additional work as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (accredited)
- 7 years experience conducting corporate investigations and serving in an executive protection leadership role in the government or private sector.
- Experience in conducting protective security advances.
