About the role
- Ensure delivery of excellent customer service through accurate and fast processing of orders
- Provide logistics support for domestic and international movement of recycled materials
- Communicate and coordinate with other departments and partners to fulfill customers' needs
- Serve as first point of customer contact for general inquiries
- Build and maintain business relationships with clients and suppliers by providing prompt and accurate service
- Arrange and negotiate third-party freight costs using WM approved carriers
- Monitor and maintain shipment status via computer system
- Respond to customer complaints and investigate and solve shipment issues
- Initiate calls to customers to set up deliveries, advise shipment delays, and trace carriers for proof of delivery
- Review pricing with Sales and Marketing groups
- Develop relationships with vendors, customers and outside freight carriers
- Prepare necessary shipment documentation, including export documentation to overseas mills
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing; record and prepare vendor payments; ensure proper billing of freight and special charges
- Resolve downgrades and rejects of waste material by negotiating pricing with customer/vendor (with account manager approval)
- Collaborate with supervisors/managers and sales representatives to coordinate services and meet service goals
- Provide timely feedback to supervisor regarding service failures and customer complaints
- Attend and contribute to meetings to maintain favorable working relationships and promote morale and efficiency
- May provide direction or support to less experienced Customer Service Representatives
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
- Two years of relevant work experience in a customer service role
- Foreign language proficiency in French a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office; basic Excel required
- Work experience that required the use of a computer
- Must live and work in the US
- Must be available during working hours of 7:30 AM-4:30 PM EST
- Must know metric and currency conversions as well as Canadian Taxes (supports Canadian accounts)
