About the role
- Works across assigned geographies and business lines to develop opportunities and leverage capabilities with a focus on risk mitigation and continuous improvement.
- Drafts formal transportation supplier agreements and contracts.
- Actively engages with haulers and operational leadership to ensure service level requirements are met and issues are promptly resolved.
- Develops and issues regular business reviews for operations and critical haulers.
- Determines effective data analytic techniques to aid in analysis around operational effectiveness.
- Creates, publishes, and disseminates standardized reporting to operations teams on performance and costs of transportation processes.
- Issues and manages transportation RFPs and negotiations as necessary to support the business.
- Monitors market trends, industry developments and transportation data to support strategy development and risk mitigation.
- Applies technical knowledge to provide consultative direction to operations management, sales and customer service staff members regarding transportation and logistics strategy and vendor selection.
- Designs, develops and gives presentations in one-on-one or group forums.
- Supports the development, communication and deployment of processes and change management strategies that support, enhance and improve operational performance.
- Works with business intelligence data to provide analysis regarding transportation supplier performance and value using available cost modeling tools.
- Works closely with System Management teams to ensure proper maintenance of the Transportation Management System (TMS) and will provide support, as needed, to quickly resolve issues.
- Assists in developing and executing conflict resolution solutions for transportation and logistics challenges.
- Implements solutions that create lasting partnerships with company businesses, transporters and end-use customers within area of responsibility.
- Works cross-functionally with other support groups to extend standard processes to other verticals within WM.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience: Seven years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, creative thinker and work in a fast-paced team environment striving towards operational excellence.
- Must be a customer-focused change agent with demonstrated collaboration, communication and influencing skills.
- Must be a team player who can work cross-functionally and balance several concurrent projects.
- Ability to use software and information technology to more effectively manage and grow the function.
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel and PowerBI.
- Experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, or Data Analytics preferred.
