About the role

  • Manage Wing’s UAS cargo special provisions program and ensure Wing compliance with its UAS cargo regulatory authorizations
  • Review and approve internal audits of offered and accepted UAS cargo to ensure compliance
  • Participate in regulatory and compliance audits as mandated by the relevant regional authorizing body
  • Identify and report within Wing any deviations from compliance with local, state and federal HAZMAT/Dangerous goods regulations or IATA & ICAO requirements
  • Grant authorization for carriage of specific items for carriage by Wing within categories permitted by Wing regulatory authorizations
  • Verify that items available to be transported aboard a Wing UAS are limited only to authorized items
  • Review requests for Wing carriage of specific HAZMAT/Dangerous Goods or Special Provision items
  • Work with the Flight Operations Training team to produce courses related to authorized UAS Cargos
  • Approve training materials and courses used by Wing pertaining to Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods or Special Provision items, as necessitated by regulations
  • Verify that all required training for employees is completed and up-to-date
  • Conduct audits of merchants and partners to ensure compliance with operator and regulatory training requirements

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in aviation and logistics operations management
  • 3+ years in a role in which you were responsible for approving or accepting items to be shipped by air, including HAZMAT
  • Familiarity with 14 CFR Part 135 regulations and a mastery of IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR)
  • Previously completed IATA Shipping Dangerous Goods by Air Course
  • Experience in conducting internal and third-party audits, specifically in aviation or high-stakes logistics environments
  • Experience in developing training material and curriculum oversight: ability to collaborate with Flight Operations and Regional Operations teams to develop (as needed), approve and verify technical training materials for Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods or Special Provision items.
  • UAS Industry knowledge: (preferred) understanding of the unique technical constraints and “Special Provisions” associated with Unmanned Aircraft Systems
  • Current driver’s license and clean driving record within the last 36-months
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Google workspace environment
  • Some experience with using AI/LLM tools for work related tasks
  • Ability to independently manage project planning and solve problems of moderate complexity with high ambiguity
  • Proven ability to manage external vendor relationships and influence internal partners through clear, data-backed communication
  • Ability to travel up to 30% nationally and internationally to provide on-site coordination, inspection, auditing, and support
