About the role
- Lead and mentor engineering teams responsible for platform automation, cluster lifecycle management, and monitoring systems
- Own the architecture and development of Kubernetes-based operators and orchestration frameworks for distributed platforms
- Drive the design and implementation of automation systems that simplify deployment, scaling, and maintenance of distributed clusters
- Establish engineering best practices related to system reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability
- Conduct design reviews and guide teams in building high-quality, production-ready software
- Collaborate with product management, SRE, and infrastructure teams to align technical solutions with product strategy and operational goals
- Build and enhance observability frameworks that provide monitoring, logging, and performance insights
- Support teams in solving complex distributed system challenges and removing technical blockers
- Define engineering roadmaps and track delivery against strategic goals and operational metrics
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing within engineering teams
- Ensure consistent collaboration across globally distributed teams and stakeholders
- Contribute to architectural decisions and remain hands-on with technical guidance when necessary
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including at least 3 years in engineering leadership or management roles
- Proven experience leading teams building Kubernetes Operators, controllers, or platform automation tools
- Strong programming expertise in Golang, Java, or Python
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and lifecycle management of stateful workloads
- Experience working with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar platforms
- Solid background in distributed systems and large-scale backend platform development
- Experience designing or operating cloud-native infrastructure and containerized platforms
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Strong architectural thinking and problem-solving abilities in complex distributed environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience managing engineering OKRs, project delivery timelines, and cross-team coordination
- Ability to collaborate effectively with global teams and cross-functional stakeholders
