About the role
- Act as a Lead IBC Assistant and may train/provide guidance to other IBC Assistants
- Perform collection follow-up duties on financial classifications (commercial insurance, self-pay, Medicare, Medicaid)
- Handle discounts, adjustments and charge corrections
- Make collection calls to insurance companies and patients to ensure timely payment of claims
- Review remittance advices for rejections and accuracy of payment amounts
- Verify accuracy and completeness of charge tickets and monitor attachments for claims to obtain maximum reimbursements
- Contact insurance companies regarding posting payments and collection agencies regarding payment reports
- Respond to questions and requests from insurance companies and support customer service unit answering billing and collection questions
- Act as back-up support for Accounts Receivable staff during peak times, vacations and illnesses
- Work in a normal office environment with typical physical effort of desk work and repetitive PC typing
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
- Billing or Insurance experience: 3 Years
- Preferred: Post-Secondary Education (2 Years)
- Preferred skills: Collections Strategies, Communication, Computer Literacy, Confidential Data Handling, Medical Terminology, Office Equipment, Telephone System
- Certifications: No specific certification required
- Driver's License: Not required
- Must be able to perform essential functions; reasonable accommodations will be made as applicable
