  • Position Summary The Assistant Director, Community Engagement, “In St. Louis, For St. Louis” Initiative – Chancellor’s Office plays an important role in building and maintaining strong relationships with community members, stakeholders, partner organizations, and local leaders to carry out the vision of the university’s “In St. Louis, For St. Louis” commitment. This role will have a particular focus on engaging community-based organizations and neighborhood initiatives. The Assistant Director will be instrumental in facilitating community events, workshops, and programs that promote collaboration, education, and dialogue across key community organizations. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Building Community Relationships Initiates and maintains relationships with community members, stakeholders, and partner organizations. This involves networking, attending community events, and reaching out to key individuals. Acts as a liaison between "In St. Louis, For St. Louis" Initiative and the community, gathering feedback, suggestions, and concerns from community members and conveying them to relevant departments or decision-makers within the organization. Represents WashU at community meetings, forums, and events, articulating our mission and fostering positive relationships. Organizing Events and Program Organizes and facilitates community forums, events, workshops, and programs that promote collaboration, education, and dialogue across the St. Louis Initiatives key audiences including "Grounds for Connection:, a signature event of the initiative. Plans and executes events, workshops, and programs that bring the community together and address their needs and interests. Recruits volunteers for various projects and initiatives. Evaluation and Reporting Assesses the effectiveness of community engagement initiatives through data collection, surveys, and feedback mechanisms. Conduct consistent weekly follow-up with internal and external partners; track meeting notes and maintain detailed documentation to monitor relationship development, identify opportunities for collaboration, and inform regular reporting. Reports on outcomes and making recommendations for improvements. Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Director, "In St. Louis, For St. Louis" Initiative. Working Conditions: Job Location/Working Conditions Normal office environment Ability to travel to various on- and off-campus locations Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for community events. Requirements
