About the role
- Prepare and check moderately complex calculations within the Mechanical Engineering discipline, including pipe/vessel design and pressure relief valve sizing calculations per ASME codes such as B31.3, Section VIII and IX.
- Efficiently utilize AutoDesk AutoCAD and Inventor to prepare mechanical engineering drawings in 2D and 3D including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mechanical fabrication drawings, and room/building layout drawings.
- Independently lead design/build projects across all 3 NETL sites.
- Review interdisciplinary engineering documents and work with other members of the engineering team to resolve any issues.
- Lead the development of man-hour and material cost estimates for new projects.
- Assist with training, mentoring/coaching other team members, and conduct training sessions as appropriate.
- Create productive relationships with organizations within and external to the Engineering Group.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four-year accredited college or university or Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology and a Professional Engineering License.
- More than 15 years of professional experience or 10 years of professional experience and a master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- Must have an advanced level of knowledge within a specific discipline and a strong understanding of the other disciplines.
- Good oral and written communication skills, working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, organizational skills, and the ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
- Ability to pass a Fit for Duty employment test to verify the ability to meet the physical and functional demands of the position.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to a nationwide criminal record search, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by the contract.
- United States citizenship is required to work on a federal contract and will be electronically verified via E-Verify.
