About the role

  • Own the ingestion, QA, and maintenance of RSS feeds, APIs, and external sources to ensure relevant, accurate, and timely sports news flows into the app
  • Partner with video ingestion providers to manage highlight and clip pipelines, ensuring high-quality, rights-approved video content lands in the right streams
  • Ensure ingestion of scores and stats working properly across leagues and teams
  • Select, evaluate, and integrate new external content sources (sites, tweets, league feeds, blogs) to broaden fan engagement
  • Partner with Product to send B/R content to external partners like Apple News
  • Collaborate with data science/AI teams to design and refine recommendation models and ranking algorithms
  • Define business rules to balance algorithmic personalization with editorial priorities
  • Monitor algorithm output and ensure the right content mix is reaching the right fans at the right time
  • Manage and optimize automated push alerts based on personalized rules
  • Partner with programming and sports leads to shape the narrative of feeds and ensure feeds update in real-time during live events
  • Create workflows for combining automated feeds + human judgment for optimal fan experience
  • Collaborate with Analytics to track performance metrics and run experiments (A/B tests) to optimize feed engagement
  • Partner with product managers to evaluate and integrate new automation tools or personalization features

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in sports media, programming, or content operations
  • Hands-on familiarity with RSS feeds, APIs, CMS tools, and content ingestion systems
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with data-driven personalization
  • Bonus: SQL, Looker, Tableau
  • Understanding of recommendation systems, personalization algorithms, or ML models (collaborative role, not building models directly)
  • Comfortable working at the intersection of programming, product, data science, and engineering
  • Passionate about sports and how fans consume content across formats
