About the role
- Work on the next generation e-commerce products, services, and solutions.
- Ensure Walmart e-commerce applications comply with web accessibility standards and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers to review digital products for inclusivity.
- Test products for accessibility compliance with WCAG.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders in Design, Product Management, and Product Engineering throughout the product development cycle to support design reviews and compliance testing.
- Collaborate with the Testing Lead for on-time completion of deliverables in alignment with the set expectations.
- Report and track accessibility defects and ensure timely closure of the defects.
- Demonstrate proficiency in products of high complexity with an ability to operate independently without extensive direction.
- Suggest process improvement ideas, provide feedback on testing tools, applications, and process.
- Contribute to the success of organizational initiatives.
- Stay abreast of evolving accessibility standards and trends in the industry.
- Continuously develop skills and knowledge in the field of inclusive design, accessibility engineering, testing, and remediation.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or higher degree in the field of Computer Science/ User Experience Design (human-computer interaction/interaction design), or in a related field.
- 5-9 years of industry experience in quality assurance related to accessibility assessment for both desktop and mobile applications.
- Demonstrable knowledge of WCAG 2.2, Section 508, WAI-ARIA standards/guidelines/regulations.
- Expertise in working with assistive technologies such as NVDA, JAWS, Talkback, and VoiceOver on both Web and mobile apps.
- Hands-on experience in performing accessibility assessments, documenting results, and following through to ensure adherence.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools (Axe, WAVE, ARC, CCA, Lighthouse, Insights, Accessibility Scanner etc.)
- Good understanding of inclusive design principles and an obsessive eye for visual and interaction details.
- Solid knowledge of semantic HTML and appropriate use of ARIA markup.
- Familiarity with bug tracking systems such as Jira.
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be willing and able to proactively reach out to stakeholders and team members for collaboration and support.
- Certifications such as CPACC or WAS from IAAP.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma.
- Experience in delivering accessibility trainings to developers and designers.
